Veterans in the Northern Arizona VA Health Care System service area will have improved access to essential services thanks to a new vehicle donated to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Transportation Network.

The donation enhances the local Transportation Network’s capacity to support Veterans living in rural and remote communities, where long travel distances and limited transportation options can create significant barriers. As part of a nationwide program that provides nearly 700,000 rides to Veterans of all generations each year, this additional vehicle will help ensure more Veterans can reach the services they rely on safely and reliably.

“This generous donation from DAV directly supports our mission to connect Veterans with the care they have earned,” said Steven Sample, NAVAHCS executive director. “For many Veterans – especially those living in rural and remote communities across Northern Arizona – reliable transportation is the critical link that makes it possible to get timely, life-changing care. We are proud to stand with our community partners in helping to remove that barrier.”

“It’s a fitting way for us to thank them and keep a promise we made when they stood up to defend our freedom,” said Bruce Nogar, DAV Transportation and Hospital Service coordinator for NAVAHCS.

Volunteer drivers and dedicated staff are at the heart of DAV’s transportation program, helping reduce travel challenges for Veterans. To continue meeting needs in Northern Arizona, DAV is seeking additional volunteers for routes in Flagstaff, Lake Havasu City, and Prescott, along with a paid Transportation and Hospital Service coordinator for the region.

Community members interested in volunteering or learning more about opportunities with the DAV Transportation Network are encouraged to contact Bruce Nogar at 928-776-6064 or Bruce.Nogar@va.gov.
