Structure Fire in Prescott Valley Linked to Illegal Burning – CAFMA

At approximately 4:12 pm on March 11, 2026, crews with the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA) and the Prescott Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 7800 block of E. Manley Drive in Prescott Valley.

Investigators determined the fire began when weeds were being burned on a no-burn day. The fire spread from the burning weeds to nearby bushes, then to the home, quickly extending into the attic. Wind played a significant role, helping the fire spread and fueling the flames once the structure became involved.

Firefighters worked quickly to contain the fire to the building of origin and successfully protected neighboring homes. Crews were able to safely recover several valuables and return them to the homeowner.

The individual responsible for burning the weeds was cited and released on a misdemeanor charge by the Prescott Valley Police Department.

Neighbors and friends are providing support to the homeowner, and no injuries were reported.

Burning Yard Debris

Residents within CAFMA’s jurisdiction planning to burn weeds or other yard debris must obtain a residential burn permit and follow all burn requirements. Burn permits can be obtained at https://prescottarea.burnpermits.com.

This website should also be used to check whether it is a burn day and to start and stop each burn. Never burn on a no-burn day or on days when conditions are windy. Always have a water supply nearby, never leave a burn unattended, and ensure the fire is fully extinguished before leaving the area.

Safety Reminder

If a fire starts in your home or workplace, evacuate immediately and stay outside. Do not go back in to retrieve belongings. Fire conditions change quickly, and smoke can be deadly.

Items can be replaced — you cannot.
