Varsity Boys Basketball
The Prescott Badgers went through their most challenging part of the season and are developing into a much better team in the process. The fruits of their labor are starting to be fulfilled as seen with a Grand Canyon Region opener win at Mohave followed up by a win at Barry Goldwater.
Prescott was in the midst of a four game losing stretch when they opened region play at Mohave. After trailing 25-21 at the half, the Badgers erupted to outscore the Thunderbirds 48-10 in the second half on their way to a 69-35 win. Then following that up by beating Barry Goldwater 69-49 to improve to (3-7) on the season.
Against the Bulldogs, It was a pair of sophomores leading the way with Caden Lozen topping all scorers with 21. Drew Jolley had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Neither team shot well from the free throw line, but the Badgers percentage was better at 62% versus the Bulldogs at 45%.
Prescott led by seven after one quarter and grew their lead to 39-26 at the half. After playing a nearly even third quarter, Prescott put the game away in the fourth to win by twenty.
The Badgers will be off until they resume their season on January 1st at the Nike Tournament of Champions, hosted by Dobson High School in Mesa.

Varsity Girls Basketball
The Prescott Lady Badgers improved to (9-2) with a 57-41 win at Deer Valley. The Lady Badgers have won six straight.
The dynamic duo, seniors Addie Prisciandaro and Bella Abt combine for 38 points a game. Prisciandaro is averaging 24 points and Abt is averaging 14 points and 10 rebounds per game.
Prescott will take a break until they return to action in the Lady Badgers Winter Classic that begins on January 2. Four games are scheduled with games on the 2nd with Mesa at noon, and Grand Canyon at 7:30pm. The following day Prescott will face Basha at 11:00am and Cibola at 3:30pm.
Bradshaw Mountain (10-3) after beating Mohave 52-23, is also having a very good season and are well balanced offensively with their top three scorers Allyson Downing averaging 9 points, Emma Johnson 8, and Presley Connolly at 7 points per game. Downing also leads the team in rebounds with 6 per game.
The Lady Bears also be in the Lady Badgers Winter Classic with games on Friday, January 2 versus Tucson at noon and Centennial at 6:00pm. On Saturday, the Lady Bears will face Mountain Ridge at 9:30am and Grand Canyon at 6:30pm.
