False Compassion – Buz Blog

False compassion, which is gradually growing in this country, is a pity that is shown not to the mugged but to the mugger, not to the family of the murdered but to the murderer” – Archbishop Fulton Sheen, “Life is Worth Living”

Real compassion is a virtue of amazing consequence. It enables us to envision the trials, tribulations and afflictions of others and to act to alleviate those problems, as much as we can. It is the compelling foundation of volunteerism. But when compassion is pointed in the wrong direction, it generates chaos, confusion, and immoral outcomes.

False compassion is best exemplified by reporters creating a saint out of career criminal, George Floyd. It was illustrated by the broadcast of the TV reporter declaring a “mostly peaceful protest”, with buildings burning in the background. It produces real animosity toward those who need real compassion.

Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin is serving time at a federal prison in Texas for murder and violating Floyd’s civil rights. The visual of Chauvin kneeling on George Floyd’s neck, while he is yelling that he can’t breathe was shown, ad nauseam by the press. The result was at least 42 people were killed and billions of dollars in property damage and loss in the riots that followed. It looked bad, but the press, the police administrators, the coroner and the prosecutors covered up the fact that there was a Minneapolis police training film that instructed officers to kneel on a suspect’s neck, just like Chauvin did, to keep the suspect from injuring himself or others. Officer Chauvin needs compassion, not a career criminal who overdosed himself with several different illicit drugs.

Examples are abundant of those who profess false compassion for wrongdoers over those they have wronged. In one of the most cowardly acts caught on video, Luigi Mangione crept up behind Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, and shot him twice in the back, killing him. Many on the left lauded Mangione because he shot an executive in the health care industry. Thompson’s family is deserving of compassion, not the lowlife, cowardly Mangione.

Many politicians and the legacy media are expressing their false compassion for illegal alien criminals who are being arrested and deported. They make up descriptions to confuse the public. They called Kilmar Abrego Garcia, “a Maryland father” and neglected to mention his arrests for spousal abuse and the video showing him to be a human trafficker. His wife and the women he transported deserved compassion. The ICE and Border Patrol officers, who are being targeted and threatened deserve real compassion, not this serial abuser.

The Democrat politicians and their sycophants in the media are expressing and attempting to gin up false compassion for the drug traffickers from Venezuela that are being vaporized when they try to transport fentanyl, cocaine and other illegal drugs by speed boats. When two of these narcoterrorists survived the first attack by our military, and were killed in the second, Democrat Congressman Jim Hines described them as “shipwrecked sailors”.

Another thing that false compassion does is to prevent addressing problems that can be alleviated. For example, the woke culture dictators demand that we accept transsexuals for what they claim to be. Someone who is born a male (or vice versa), and thinks they are really the opposite sex, against all physical anatomical evidence, has a psychological problem.

If we cater to this psychosis, we are not helping this person, no matter how compassionate we feel. By pandering to their mental illness, we are pushing them to think that they are victims. Some of them react violently. A not insignificant number have become mass shooters and murderers.

True compassion demands that we get these individuals psychological help. We wouldn’t allow some kid who thinks he is Superman to jump off a roof. Why, then, do we let individuals who think they can surgically change their sex by mutilating their bodies?

False compassion causes harm to our culture and our country and should be confronted for what it is: illogical asininity

  1. Another really GREAT article Buz and so very true. The victims of crimes go unnoticed and the person who committed the crime is pitied and glorified. Americans thinking is way out of wack and social media and the news is to blame. I am sure if a serious crime happened to them they would quickly change the way they view these vicious criminals. Thank you for not being afraid to say it like it is.
