City of Prescott Public Notice: Consideration of New City Court Docket Fee

The City of Prescott is providing public notice regarding a proposed new fee to be considered by the Prescott City Council.

Notice is hereby given that the Prescott City Council will consider and possibly adopt a new fee, the City Court Docket Fee, at its regularly scheduled City Council meeting on January 13, 2026, at 3:00 pm, located in the City Council Chambers at Prescott City Hall, 201 N. Montezuma Street, Prescott, AZ 86301. The new City Court Docket Fee will become effective thirty (30) days after its adoption by the Prescott City Council.

City Council will be considering and possibly adopting the following fee in City Code 2-7-6.

  • City Court Docket Fee: $45.00

Copies of the aforementioned Schedule and Report have also been filed in the Office of the City Clerk, 201 N. Montezuma Street, Prescott, AZ, on the date of this posting.

The proposed City Court Docket Fee is intended to support the administrative costs associated with case management and court operations.

Residents are encouraged to review the supporting materials and attend the January 13, 2026, City Council meeting to provide input or learn more about the proposal.

  1. Two relevant questions:

    1) What happened to the taxes that are supposed to pay for “….administrative costs associated with…”

    2) Are the court operations free of non-value added work, waste, double effort and the like?

    Answer these questions first, then start talking about new fees. And besides, when will the Town of Prescott announce that they’ve improved their processes so much that they’ll now eliminate some fee foisted in the past on the taxpaying public?
