The Prescott Badgers moved up two spots after their 30-13 win over Flagstaff to #30 in the latest rankings posted by the AIA. Meanwhile the Bradshaw Mountain Bears who rolled up Buckeye 56-20, saw themselves slip a spot to #4.
The top two teams Snowflake and Arcadia remained in those positions, but every team below moved around. Walden Grove made the biggest jump from #22 to #14, while St. Mary’s took the biggest fall from #7 to #15.
The top 24 teams this season will make the playoffs in the new format. The top eight teams at the end of the regular season will get a bye week. The teams ranked 9-24 will be matched up with the winners moving on and placed into a 16 team playoff field beginning on November 14. The championship game will be played on December 5 at Arizona State University.
Prescott has a big game at Youngker on Friday and must win to keep their hopes for the post season alive. Bradshaw Mountain on the other hand will be looking to win the Grand Canyon Region title if they can beat #9 Coconino in Flagstaff. A loss would give the Panthers the region title.
Two other Grand Canyon Region teams are also in the playoff hunt. Mohave at #5 and Lee Williams at #24 face each other Friday night in Bullhead City.
