For LD1’s beleaguered house incumbents, the waiting is over. Shawn Dell Wildman, who mounted a surprisingly strong challenge for a legislative seat in 2024, has made it official. She’s in the 2026 race for the Arizona Legislature. Her August 11th filing of a Statement of Interest with the Arizona Secretary of State allows her to immediately begin collecting signatures to gain ballot status. With Matt Tucciarone’s filing last month, for the first time in over a decade, both of LD1’s House seats will be contested in the 2026 Republican primary.
In the 2024 election cycle, Ms. Wildman stunned local political observers by winning over 14,000 votes in the Republican primary, in spite of a late start and delays in qualifying for clean elections funding. The result was widely interpreted as a reflection of disenchantment among conservative voters with the well-funded incumbents. A spokesman for Ms. Wildman states that she will once again run as a clean elections candidate.

In 2024 Ms. Wildman was a political unknown. In the upcoming 2026 election she will be an experienced candidate with an established conservative brand and strong name recognition among a broad swath of Republican voters. An early announcement should make it easier for her to qualify for clean elections funding and start getting out her campaign message.
In response to Ms. Wildman’s announcement, Matt Tucciarone said he welcomed her entry into the race. “Ousting entrenched incumbents is never easy,” Tucciarone stated, “especially when they can tap into lobbyist and special interest money in Phoenix and even out of state.” He went on to say that he appreciated the help of another candidate in getting the word out about the incumbents’ poor standing among their conservative colleagues in the legislature. “Neither of them have been accepted by the Freedom Caucus”, Tucciarone noted, a reference to the caucus of conservative Republican legislators who have worked together in opposition to Governor Hobb’s liberal agenda. Tucciarone observed that Rep Quang Nguyen, in particular, has strayed from America First orthodoxy by opposing President’s Trump’s immigration policies on birth right citizenship and chain migration. He has also opposed Congressman Paul Gosar’s proposal for an immigration moratorium.
Shawn Dell Wildman is a native Texan who moved to Arizona in 1981 following her marriage. She was a stay at home mom who home schooled her three children. Her family has lived in Yavapai County since 1994 where she and her husband, Owen, have run several businesses including gun sales as a Federal Firearms Licensee. They currently own and operate a printing company that provides marketing and advertising for small businesses.
In remarks to Prescott eNews during her 2024 campaign, Ms. Wildman described herself as a person of deep religious faith and strongly held conservative values. In recent remarks, she has stated her strong support for President Trump and intention to run as a MAGA and America First candidate. Since her earlier campaign she has closely associated herself with LD1 State Senator Mark Finchem, who reportedly encouraged her to run for the state legislature. Senator Finchem is a Trump endorsed, America First member of the Arizona Senate. As the top Republican elected official in LD1, he has made it clear that he supports change in LD1’s house delegation.

Great news! Wildman is an Outstanding candidate! After seeing her jump in at the tail end of the last election and grab nearly 15,000 votes I bet she will win this election! Quang especially needs to be ousted! We definitely need more like Finchem, he gets things done! His hearings on Family Court are incredible, exposing the racketeering between judges, court therapists & lawyers. Wow! Unbelievable what they are putting the children of divorce through. Nothing short of parental extortion & sanctioned abuse by these corrupt courts. We definitely need a representative that will stand with Finchem. Go Wildman!! The people love you!
