Over the weekend of October 3-5, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, the Prescott Area Artist Studio Tour will showcase 78 juried artists across 55 private studios, as well as additional artists in four Art Centers, throughout the Prescott/Quad-City area. This beloved annual event offers attendees an opportunity to visit with the artists, observe their creative processes and purchase one-of-a-kind works of art from many different mediums, ranging from painting and ceramics to jewelry and glass. Attendees of this free, self-guided event may begin at any location and visit as many studios as they like. This year’s Tour will feature exciting new additions, including the Phippen Museum as an Art Center and “Beyond the Studio: The Artist Tour Preview,” an exhibit of Tour artists’ work on display from August 21 through September 21 at the ‘Tis Art Center & Gallery (105 S. Cortez Street in Prescott). For detailed information, visit www.PrescottStudioTour.com.

Each year, attendees of the Prescott Area Artist Studio Tour report that one of the most intriguing aspects is the opportunity to observe artists as they actively demonstrate their craft. This experience allows attendees to learn about the materials, techniques and processes used in creating a work of art, while forging a personal connection with the artists. Among many others, the Tour’s diverse selection of artists will include:

  • Roger Harlow, Woodworking. Roger began woodworking in the fifties, and his love for the art form has only grown over the years – partially because of the challenging mathematics involved. He specializes in segmented bowls and vases, as well as cutting boards. Roger will appear at Tour Studio #22, Whims and Fancies, 863 Maple Lane in Chino Valley.
  • Lynn Schmitt, Jewelry. Inspired by ornate wrought iron gates and fences, Lynn bends and forms wire into geometric and fanciful shapes before combining it with gemstones, resin and recycled greeting cards to create one-of-a-kind jewelry.Lynn will be showcasing her works at Tour Studio #15, Slinky Lynnx Chic (10696 E. Manzanita Trail in Dewey), where she will also be selling the remaining works of past Tour artist and founding member, Deanne Brewster, who sadly passed away this year. All proceeds from Deanne’s works will be used to support children’s art programs.
  • Russell Johnson, Painting. Russell is a landscape-based artist who enjoys an impressionistic approach to painting. Finding inspiration in his hiking, backpacking and camping expeditions, Russell uses vibrant color and luscious textures to mimic the energy of being out in nature’s splendor. He will appear at Tour Studio #10, Russell Johnson Fine Art, 105 S. Granite Street in Prescott.
  • Kelly Jones, Glass. Using torch, tools and kilns, Kelly aims to capture the delicate essence of nature’s whimsy through the vibrant medium of glass. Inspired by the intricate beauty of floral landscapes, each bloom and tendril is carefully crafted, inviting the viewer into a world where imagination intertwines with reality. Meet Kelly at Tour Studio #40, Wonderstruck Glass & Textiles, 2150 Meander in Prescott.
  • Heath Krieger, Ceramics. Having been a potter for over 50 years, Heath will be showing work that has evolved from large wheel-thrown vessels and sculptures to the smaller raku work he is making now. Visit Heath at Tour Studio #55, Krieger Studios (4500 N. Surprise Spring Lane in Prescott) to see his works, including birds, copper leaf, raku and some functional pieces.

Leading up to the Tour, the month-long “Beyond the Studio: The Artist Tour Preview” exhibit will offer a wonderful opportunity for attendees to view artwork by Tour artists in one space and decide which studios they would like to visit. All works will be available for sale. There will also be a raffle featuring several different items, with proceeds dedicated to the support of children’s art programs in the Prescott area. The exhibit will launch with an opening reception on Friday, August 22 from 5-8 p.m. at the ‘Tis Art Center & Gallery.

The Prescott Area Artist Studio Tour is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that strives to educate the public about how and why artists create their work. Supported in part by the City of Prescott, the Prescott Area Arts & Humanities Council and the Arizona Commission on the Arts, the Tour also fosters an appreciation of the arts and promotes art education.
