“Mothers hold their children’s hands for a short while, but their hearts forever.” – Unknown
“God could not be everywhere, and therefore he made mothers.” – Rudyard Kipling
Growing up, I was close to my mother and both my grandmothers. I have three sisters who are mothers and my wife, Judi, is a mother of two. Over the years it has occurred to me that mothers are the personification of the most positive human traits. Motherhood seems to take a woman’s thoughts away from herself and puts her primary concerns on her child or children. A mother will sacrifice everything for the well being of her kids.
A good mother will teach her children the basics of selflessness, sharing, compassion and helping others. She will read to them when they’re young, teach them to read when they get older and encourage them to try things that they may be reluctant to try. Together with the father, they form a family that is the foundation of a good community and a strong nation. They mold us into what we are, and for that we owe them a debt we can never repay.
To all of the mothers, grandmothers, great-grandmothers and great-great- grandmothers, have a very Happy Mothers Day with those who love you.
