The City of Prescott and their contractor have recently completed a project to improve the flow of traffic through the Transfer Station with the relocation of the fee booth and scales.
Located at 2800 Sundog Ranch Rd, Prescott, AZ, the Transfer Station is open to the public, Monday – Saturday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. At the Transfer Station, trash and recyclables are collected and sorted before being transported to the Gray Wolf Landfill or the City of Phoenix for recycling.
If you are planning to use the Transfer Station, be sure to dress appropriately in closed-toed shoes. Keep children and pets in the vehicle, and do not smoke outside your vehicle.
Be sure to cover and secure all loads during transport; it’s the law.
Acceptable materials: Yard waste, household trash, construction debris, house and lawn furniture, appliances that do NOT have refrigerant or propane.
Unacceptable materials: Tires, paint, propane tanks, toxic/hazardous materials such as pesticides and paint thinners/cleaning agents (especially flammable), lithium or car batteries, asbestos, pesticides, and appliances containing CFCs (freon). Check our website at www.prescottrecycles.com or call 928-777-1116 for more information about disposal rules and options.

As you approach the fee booth, roll down your window and follow the signage and attendant’s instructions. When directed, drive onto the scale to the right side of the booth. Your loaded vehicle must be weighed before proceeding to the tipping area.
When directed, stay right around the loop to the disposal area and unload your trash then close tailgates and sweep bumpers to ensure no rocks or other material is loose.
Proceed to the scales and fee booth again, and when directed, drive onto the scales. The attendant will weigh your empty vehicle to calculate the cost of your disposed waste.
