Mechanical thinning beginning on the Bradshaw Ranger District

Beginning Monday April 14, contractors working on the Doce  Mastication  Project in the Bradshaw Ranger District will be using a combination of heavy equipment and hand crews to  masticate brush, followed by thinning and hand piling hazardous fuels within approximately 1,965-acre project area. This project is being implemented under the Hassayampa Landscape Restoration Project.

The project area is located on national forest lands west of Prescott, Arizona.

Doce Mastication is located within:

Township 14 North Range 4 West sections 1, 2, 11, 12, 13 and 14,

Township 14 North Range 3 West sections 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29 and 33,

Township 15 North Range 3 West sections 7,

Township 13 North Range 3 West section 4 and 5.

Closures

Closure Order Number: #03-09-03-25-05 went into effect today to provide safe work conditions for permittees conducting grazing operations and facilitate large scale cleanup. The closure order is set to expire on April 25, 2025. An additional closure order can be expected through the end of June while heavy equipment and hand crews finish work on the project. We do ask the public to please avoid the area and do not enter areas where the heavy equipment is operating. Approaching such equipment is very dangerous as the operator may not see you.

The intent of the project is to improve the health and resiliency of fire-adapted ecosystems while simultaneously reducing hazardous fuels that pose a threat to life and property in the Wildland-Urban Interface.

For more information, please contact the Bradshaw Ranger District at (928) 443-8000.
