Multi-Agency Traffic Enforcement Operation Leads to 114 Stops, Numerous Citations – Prescott Police Department

Thanks to grant funding from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the Prescott Police Department, in collaboration with the Prescott Valley Police Department, Chino Valley Police Department, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, and the Arizona Department of Public Safety, conducted a targeted speed and aggressive driving enforcement detail within the City of Prescott on Wednesday, March 26th

This coordinated effort focused on high-traffic areas, including Willow Creek Road, Iron Springs Road, Williamson Valley Road, and Pioneer Parkway, resulting in 114 traffic stops aimed at enhancing roadway safety.

During the operation, officers issued 72 citations for speeding violations, including one driver recorded at 73-mph in a 45-mph zone. Additionally, one motorist was arrested for DUI, and 44 other citations and warnings were issued for various infractions, such as failure to stop at red lights.

This enforcement initiative highlights the ongoing commitment of local law enforcement agencies to reduce dangerous driving behaviors and improve road safety for all motorists and pedestrians. Drivers are reminded to obey posted speed limits, remain attentive, and prioritize safe driving practices.

  1. It is great to here of this enforcement. Speeding 20 plus miles over is rampant particularly on GURLEY and on 69 75 miles per hour is just outright dangerous and it seems many new comers don’t care. Thank You for taking action and maybe if we hot them with tickets, fines, court costs, lawyer and court costs and impoundment of their vehicle they will finally understand what they need to do. Is it worth injuring or killing someone else because of their foolish behavior. I remember everytime an 18 year old was killed at Gurley and Gail Gardner and a very young man drove down the center lane to pass and I do everytime I go there. What is it going to take to save lives!

  2. I hope those drivers who race into work on Williamson Valley Road take note and slow down. The stretch in the Granite Oaks area is DANGEROUS due to the speeders and tailgaters who don’t care about safety and who put the residents of the area in harm’s way on a daily basis. The traffic fines should be doubled, licenses yanked, and jail time added for the maniacs who don’t care, and shouldn’t be on the road anyway.

  3. I would like to see a weekly report of all of the crimes committed in the Prescott area. Publicizing this information would keep the public more informed as to what is happening in the area. All crimes meaning DUI’s, burglaries, speeding, disorderly conduct, etc. I think this would be a very good update submitted by our local police department. On a personal note, I think the Prescott Police Department does a terrific job and I pray they all stay safe trying to keep all of us safe.

  4. speeding and crossing yellow lines to overtake on Williamson valley happens every time I use the road.
I keep to the speed limit and vehicles drive real close behind me, hoping I will speed up. it’s bad!
