It is evident that there are many, otherwise intelligent Americans, who vote for far left Democrats. They keep voting them into office even though the states and cities these extremists Democrats control are deteriorating into tent cities of homeless using the streets for toilets and open illegal drug use, high crime rates, collapsing infrastructure and financial ineptness. The obvious question arises: why do apparently rational people consistently vote against their best interest?

The stubborn obstinacy of life long, generational Democrats can only amount to a small percentage. Logic would dictate that the answer lies in a deeper reason. Newsmax anchor and radio talk show host, Chris Plante, came up with the answer. He stated that the most insidious power is the power to ignore. This makes sense on so many levels. Prior to the 1950s, most people got their news from newspapers and/or radio. In the large urban areas, there were usually two or more newspapers and radio stations that would provide at least some opposing views.

With the widespread ownership of televisions, more and more Americans started getting their news from TV. The problem was that the networks controlled the output of news items. With the national news lasting only a half hour for many years, that meant that only what the editor and/or the news anchors thought was important, made it on the nightly news. Combined with the fact that most in the televised news business were liberal led to the restriction of information that might be detrimental to liberal policies or politicians. Conservative views and candidates might be mentioned, but not often and not usually in a positive or unbiased way.

If it wasn’t heard on Cronkite, Huntley/Brinkley, Peter Jennings or Tom Brokaw the vast majority of people didn’t know about it. If it wasn’t in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the LA Times, or any of the other leftist, big city newspapers, more news readers didn’t know about it.  Most Americans didn’t know about President Kennedy’s use of painkillers, his health problems, or his affair with a woman who was also sleeping with a Chicago Mafioso. That’s just one example. The legacy news didn’t print or broadcast what they didn’t want Americans to know. They utilized the “power to ignore” to maximum effect on untold stories they hid from the public.

We need to educate our otherwise intelligent Democrat friends and relatives that if they are getting their news by only watching or listening to ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, or NPR, they are not getting all the facts. If they tell you that they never listen to Fox News or Newsmax because it is just “propaganda”, tell them that they are only hearing half of a story and are making decisions without knowing other salient items that have not been reported by the legacy press.

There are two sides to every story and if one is only given one side, his view is skewed and any opinion formed from receiving only half of a story, is warped. Comparing the human mind to a computer is illustrative of what happens. The saying among computer experts is, “Garbage in – garbage out”. The power to ignore was another dynamic that the globalist, left wing, mainstream media used to keep our citizens from knowing the truth. With the growing popularity of the internet news sites, podcasters, blogs and conservative cable news channels, it is becoming more and more difficult, if not impossible, for them to ignore news that they don’t want us to see.

The progressive, extremist, disinformation news purveyors are developing countermeasures when the news they are trying to hide reaches the public. They produce numerous “experts” to dispute the true news. That’s exactly what they did when the news about what was on Hunter Biden’s laptop was published in the New York Post. Before the 2020 election, they found fifty odd intelligence experts to say that the laptop bore all the tells of Russian disinformation. A great many people believed them and voted for the crooked, mentally addled Biden. Beware, when the left brings forth experts to counter news they’ve been trying to hide.
