Both Prescott Badgers basketball teams earned first round home games in the 4A Division playoffs beginning on Wednesday.
The Prescott boys are coming off a heartbreaking 70-68 overtime loss to Brophy Prep. Despite the loss, the Badgers were able to play in an intense playoff game against a quality opponent which has not happened since December.
The Badgers, seeded #2, will host Mesquite on Wednesday at 7 pm. Mesquite beat Cortez 61-38 in their play-in game to move into the round of 16. The Wildcats, seeded #15, are the only team with a losing record to make the 4A playoffs. The last time the two schools met was two years ago. Mesquite came to Prescott and beat the Badgers 78-61 in a quarterfinal game. But that was then and this is now.
Bradshaw Mountain earned themselves a berth into the round of sixteen with a 75-47 win over Coconino in Flagstaff. The Bears seeded at #16 will get to play the top seed Cougars of Sahuaro in Tucson. The Cougars are limping into the playoffs having lost their last two games.
