The Prescott Badgers spent their first game after being ranked number one in division 4A with an explosive performance of offense and tenacious defense to beat the Flagstaff Eagles by 42 points in a game that was basically over in the first few minutes of the opening quarter.

A six zip lead grew to 12-5, and at that point is when the Badgers took off. Prescott led by the dominance of big man Zane Gaul with 29 points plus a season high of 17 rebounds, with five blocked shots, and Uriah Tenette with 25 points plus eight assists, went on an 18-0 run to build a 30-5 lead before the Eagles got another bucket.

The pressure defense smothered the Eagles resulting in quick scoring opportunities with drives to the basket by Cooper Magnett, plus Gaul and Tenette using slam dunks and mid to long range baskets to push the Badgers lead to 46-13 at the half.
Another big quarter by Prescott increased the lead at one point to 49 points, but with the final eight minutes under a running clock, the bench was able to finish the game and get some experience to boot.
Unlike the previous two games, Prescott was able to get scoring from others besides Tenette, Gaul, and Magnett. Coley Fundalewicz, Tommy Richardson, Kenny Miller and Chase Stedman all contributed in the scoring column.
Gaul said, “Tonight and last Monday I played the kind of ball I am capable of. I did not play very well at Bradshaw and knew I needed to get going again. We just need to keep playing well as a team and it was good to see everybody contribute tonight.”
Prescott, in the midst of a five game winning streak, travels to Mountain Pointe High School in Ahwatukee on Monday for a 2:30 pm contest with Barry Goldwater.
