Photo: Addy Prisciandaro scored 27 points to lead Prescott to a 60-54 win over Ironwood Ridge
After day one and a pair of blowout wins, 66-7 over Mountain Ridge, and 61-32 over Mountain View Mesa, the Prescott Lady Badgers fought hard but came up short in their third contest with a 58-48 setback to Mica Mountain. Prescott rebounded to claim third place as they hosted the Lady Badger Winter Classic with a highly contested 60-54 win over the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks.
The Lady Badgers opened up a lead they held throughout the first quarter, but the Nighthawks would tie and take the lead briefly before Kylee Murdock stole the ball and scored to regain the lead 22-21. Prescott led 25-24 lead at the half.
Prisciandaro would drill a pair of three pointers from each corner of the baseline to boast the lead to 33-27, but Ironwood Ridge would come back to tie the game at 33. Rayne Libis hit a three for a 43-39 Lady Badgers lead after three quarters.
Prescott would tie their largest lead when Prisciandaro hit a long range three from downtown for a 54-46 advantage with three minutes left. Ironwood Ridge pulled within five but that was as close as they got as the Lady Badgers improved to (10-4) on the season.
Prescott opens Grand Canyon Region play at Coconino on Tuesday.
Bradshaw Mountain was able to blowout Arcadia 52-12 in their final game at the Lady Badger Classic. The three previous games, the Lady Bears came up short with losses to Thunderbird 40-32, Marana 41-35, and their tournament opener with Cibola 49-18.
Kenna Martinez recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds in the game versus Marana.
Bradshaw Mountain (6-5), will host Prescott on Thursday at 5:30pm.
Meanwhile the Prescott boys basketball team is back in Arizona after a (2-2) showing in the Damian Tournament in La Verne, California. This week they played at the Nike Tournament of Champions in Mesa.
In their first contest the Badgers came up short in a 52-50 loss to Rolling Hills Prep (CA). Uriah Tenette scored 26 and Josiah Peoples finished with 11.
Prescott dropped a second game in a 74-65 loss to the Mesa Jackrabbits. Uriah Tenette scored 31 and Zane Gaul added 22.
In their finale, the Badgers ran past Cienega 82-59. Prescott led 24-17 after one quarter, and led 46-29 at the half. A big third quarter increased the lead to 70-40.
Uriah Tenette led the Badgers with 28 points. Thomas Noyes led the Bobcats with 21 points who despite shooting 54% for the game lost by 23.
Prescott (6-5) will begin Grand Canyon Region play on Tuesday versus Coconino.
Bradshaw Mountain won their last four tournament games and now sits at (11-6) after having a grueling six game schedule in two days at the Mike Barr Memorial Tournament in Payson.
The Bears beat Shadow Ridge 60-27 but lost a close one to Sunnyside 63-60, then wrapping up day one with a 76-71 over Walden Grove.
Day two the Bears picked up wins over Benson 53-44 and Mingus 77-53, before finishing off Walden Grove for a second time 76-54.
Next up will be the first rivalry game of 2025 as the Badgers will make the short trip to Prescott Valley to face the Bears on Thursday at 7pm.
Prescott will have their first Grand Canyon Region game on Tuesday as they host Coconino before the game at Bradshaw Mountain.
