People from all over came to downtown Prescott to help ring in the new year with the 14th Annual Boot Drop. This was the third straight year the event was held after a cancellation in December of 2020 due to the Coronavirus. The first Boot Drop took place in 2011.

The Instant Classics from Phoenix came up to play a wide arrangement of music featuring songs by Dolly Parton, Bee Gees, Elton John, Earth Wind and Fire and the traditional 80s classic, Celebration by Kool & The Gang. In fact their range of songs covers the 1950s to the present.

The crowd was more than ready when the music started shortly after 8:30. As the evening progressed, more and more people showed up filling Montezuma Street in front of Whiskey Row.
Deborah Sullivan, was visiting some friends by venturing up from the valley said, “Since the weather is good I decided to come up to see the Boot Drop for myself. Nice setup here on historical Whiskey Row. Just waiting for the band to start playing. We are so ready to ring in the New Year.” Tammy Thomas added, “That is so true. Happy New Year!”

By 10pm, everyone there was ready to see Boot Drop number one. The crowd thinned out some after, but regained momentum as new participants to the event came strolling in all decked out in party garb to celebrate the beginning of a new year that most seem to be looking forward too.
