Driver of Side-by-Side Dies after Fiery Crash
On Saturday just after noon, YCSO responded to a report of a single-vehicle UTV crash on state trust land northeast of Coyote Springs in Prescott Valley. When deputies arrived, the male driver and lone occupant of the vehicle had pulled himself away from the burning side-by-side. Witnesses comforted the badly burned and injured driver until medical help arrived and began life-saving measures. Shortly after, the victim was airlifted to a hospital in Phoenix but sadly succumbed to his injuries and passed away. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Elderly Man Stuck on Floor for Several Days, Rescued by Deputy
On Sunday afternoon, a YCSO Deputy responded to a welfare check in Prescott for a man in his late 70s after no one had heard from him for several days. Upon arriving at the residence, the Deputy heard a man’s voice inside the home calling for help. The deputy forced entry into the home and located the man lying on the floor. Medical was immediately called and aid was rendered. The man was alert when taken to the hospital, he told the Deputy he had been lying on the floor without food or water and unable to get up, for four days.
YCSO Deputies respond to many welfare checks and take each one seriously. Please do not hesitate to call the Sheriff’s Office at 928-771-3260 if you are concerned about a loved one’s well-being.

I really wish there was a column in your newspaper with all of the police/sheriff/fire activity throughout Prescott. People would like to know what all is going on from a drunk driver to a suicide/murder. Example why I say this is because last week on Montezuma there were police cars racing towards the direction of the hospital. There must have been six or more police cars all with red lights and sirens. This went on for at least five minutes and I can’t find anywhere what this was about. I would like to see a police log printed so we can follow what is happening in our “quiet” small town. Thanks.
