Once again an amazing crowd gathered for the 70th Annual Prescott Courthouse Lighting on a seasonably dry comfortable evening in downtown Prescott.

Sanford Cohen, President at Arizona’s Hometown Radio Group did his usual great job keeping the evening moving along as he emceed the event once again. Mayor Phil Goode spoke along with Frank Sanderson of APS, Laura Wallace of Desert Financial, and Paul Penzone of Blue Cross Blue Shield, all giving thanks for all those who share in the process of putting such a wonderful event together.

Ken Bennett marked his 32nd year of having the pleasure of reading the Christmas Story as children of all ages shared the backdrop of the courthouse steps to sing Christmas songs in between the story.

Ken and Lisa Davies from Southern California were passing through town and were in awe of the amazing experience they stumbled upon. “This is such a fantastic thing that the people here have done and embraced. I am just so impressed by everything here I have seen today.” Lisa was equally impressed, “To be able to hear the Christmas Story being read just brings goosebumps to me. It makes the moment so real and truly defines what Christmas is all about.”

After the final song, the 80 trees illuminated with more than a million LED lights. The crowd was then treated to fireworks over Whiskey Row. People slowly moved about on their way to dinner, drinks, the Sharlot Hall Museum and either their hotel, or home.
Prescott once again put together an amazing event that young and old could truly enjoy as Prescott remains Arizona’s Christmas City. Easy to see why Prescott was named in Newsweek this past week as one of the Top 10 Christmas Towns in the United States. Peace on earth was alive and well in Prescott.
