Snowflake Ends Badgers Season 49-13

The Prescott Badgers football season came to an end on a cold night in Snowflake with a 49-13 quarterfinal loss to the Lobos.

#3 Snowflake (12-0) will move on to face #2 AZ College Prep on Friday, while the #6 Badgers end their best season in decades at (10-2).

The Badgers took the opening kickoff and moved the ball down the field to take a 7-0 lead when Uriah Tenette tiptoed into the end zone on a four yard run.

It did not take long for the Lobos to respond as the kickoff was returned 64 yards by Christian Smith to the Badgers 24. Three plays later Jacob LaDuke scored on a 13 yard run to tie the game at seven.

Prescott came right back with a second touchdown when Tenette connected with Isaac Briseno on the sideline for a 29 yard pass play. This time though, the extra point attempt was blocked and the score stood at 13-7.

The Badgers defense forced the only Lobos punt of the game resulting in the ball dying at the Prescott seven yard line. Unfortunately, a costly fumble on a pitch play gave Snowflake the momentum and the ball inside the five yard line and two plays later the Lobos took a 14-13 lead as the first quarter came to an end.

After a Badgers punt, the Lobos increased their lead to 21-13 on LaDuke’s third touchdown run. The game really took a bad turn for the Badgers shortly after that, with an official making their presence known by calling two unsportsmanlike penalties on Prescott after a first and goal play at the Snowflake seven yard line. When the dust settled and after the officials met for some time to figure the down out, play resumed. The drive resulted in no points, and the Lobos scored one more time to end the first half with a 28-13 lead.

Prescott had two big chances to get the ball in the start of the third quarter, but Snowflake converted a third and 20, and later a second and 20 into first downs, as they went on to score on their final five possessions to win by 36.

The Lobos ground game was impressive as they rushed for 298 yards and seven touchdowns, led by sophomore quarterback Jacob LaDuke who had 89 yards and four touchdowns.

The three running backs each scored a touchdown with Kanton Turley leading Snowflake with 93 yards on the ground. Karter Raban had 71 yards and Brenner Green with 48 yards.

The Badgers were led by Uriah Tenette who threw for 200 yards and 1 TD  and ran for the other touchdown with 46 yards, Issac Briseno rushed for 40 yards and had the one 29 yard touchdown reception. Leading receivers were Josiah Peoples with four catches for 105 yards, and Eli Allen with six catches for 49 yards. Prescott defense was led by Brody Hanna with 21 tackles. Cooper Kasun, Adam Lloyd, and Trace Overton were credited with ten tackles each.
