The Badgers were “Little” victims as they fell to the (5) ranked Thunderbird Titans 36-14 on a hot evening in Phoenix. The temperature at kickoff was at 105 and only dropped to 98 by game’s end, and to make matters worse, there was no breeze for the entire game.
The Littles, senior Elijah and freshman Daryl accounted for all five of the Titans touchdowns. Elijah rushed for 159 yards on 24 carries with four scores. Daryl Little caught three passes for 95 yards and a touchdown, as the pair accounted for 254 of the 307 yards of total offense for Thunderbird.
Things started off good enough as the Prescott defense came out and got a quick stop of the potent Titan offense.
The Badgers then jumped on top with their first possession when Uriah Tenette threw a pass to Josiah Peoples who went high up to pull the ball down for the score. Johann Gundermann added the extra point for a 7-0 lead
Thunderbird’s second possession saw Elijah Little splitting the defense for a 23 yard run and score.

The second quarter saw the Titans take the lead. The home team was driving again and a key third down came with ten minutes left in the quarter and resulted in a pass interference call on defensive back Adam Lloyd, who actually made a great play on the ball to deflect the pass away from the receiver. The referee insisted that Lloyd put his hand on the receiver’s shoulder. Photos of the play said a different story. The “phantom” call resulted with the ball being placed at the Badger six. A run up the middle by Elijah Little for his second touchdown of the night, and following two point conversion put the Titans up 15-7.

Later in the quarter, Little scored his third touchdown to give Thunderbird 22-7 lead at the half.
The Badgers came out in the third quarter and used nearly eight minutes on the clock, finally converting a one yard run by Tenette to pull within 22-14.
Thunderbird went up by two touchdowns again when Elijah Little scored on a five yard run, following another pass interference penalty called on the Badgers.
Trailing 29-14 with 9:30 left, Wyatt Pierce came up with a muffed punt by the Titans to give the offense another chance at the Thunderbird 25. The Badger offense bogged down and the Titans scored their final TD on a 22 yard pass from Andrew Cohill to Daryl Little. Cohill completed only six of fourteen passes for 124 yards and that late touchdown.
Jacob Chamberlain led the rushing attack for the Badgers with 44 yards on nine carries. Adam Lloyd ran for 43 yards, and Isaac Briseno had 38 yards. Uriah Tenette completed seven passes for 75 yards and a TD. Josiah Peoples had one catch for the touchdown, and Johann Gundermann had three catches for 29 yards. Cooper Kasun had seven tackles and Brody Hanna had six to lead the defense.
#15 Prescott (1-1) will face another top team with a return trip to Phoenix to play #7 Northwest Christian (2-0). Thunderbird will make the short trip to play Apollo. Both games are Friday at 7 pm.
