Prescott Preservation Commission Reviews Revised Plans for Hotel Development on Site of Old City Hall

Artist Rendering of Second Design

On Friday, July 12, the City of Prescott Preservation Commission received a presentation from Shane Shumway, with Territory Holdings, LLC, responding to the Commission’s direction at their meeting on June 14.  The project will come back to the Commission at a later date, possibly as early as September 13, where the Commission would vote to decide whether to approve the project and recommend it to City Council.

The proposed redevelopment project has spaces for retail and restaurant uses on the main level with upper levels consisting of a hotel with 100+ guestrooms.  The goal is to attract visitors and locals alike.

Citizens and members of the public are welcome to attend all public meetings in person.  All meetings can be viewed on the City’s Facebook page and Youtube Channel, and on the Public Access Channel through SparkLight.  Citizens can learn more about the project and comment by going to ParticipatePrescott.com

  1. Please tell me what is “historic” about this proposal? Any one think the Harley Davison store, the new bank or Colt Grill are historic?

  2. This 4 story building does not fit with the historic buildings in our downtown square. Our fire trucks do not have equipment to get above 3 stories. There is NOT ENOUGH PARKING in this plan to accommodate businesses, the hotel, and restaurants! This building will be a terrible blight on our town!

  3. I agree with Mullen and Hart and all of the citizens of Prescott who think this monster building doesn’t belong in our small town (our use to be nice small town), The City of Prescott has become money hungry! Whatever brings in money for them to waste is all they care about. Trying to go through downtown has become a maze. Never a place to park and traffic backed up from one stop signal to the next. Prescott has lost its charm, its small town feel. It’s to bad all of the citizens who live here and pay taxes can’t vote on changes. The future of our town is left to a handful of money hungry people who don’t care about our town and won’t listen to what the people don’t want.

  4. We all know that none of the resident of Prescott want this monster building in our quiet, unique little town. I believe there is a solution to this problem. We all get our ballots with a bunch of people to vote for – for which none of us even know. That said, why don’t they put improvements, new constructions, etc. on the ballot and let the residents who live here, shop here, who pay taxes, decide what THEY want for THEIR town and city? Let the people decide instead of 7 people who sit on the City Council. This would make the decisions by the people and for the people, after all it is their city.

  5. Hey Jon G. what a unique idea, let the people who live here and love this town decided what is good for it. Proposals being on the ballot might even get me and others more involved in voting. My hat is off to you for such a great response – not that anyone will read it or take any action on it, we all know the City already has it’s mind made up.
