The City of Prescott has given notice of its intent to increase water and wastewater rates, and City Council will hold a study session and a public hearing to discuss the matter.

City Council will hold a Council Study Session at 1 pm on May 14, 2024 in the City Council Chambers at Prescott City Hall, 201 N. Montezuma Street, Prescott, AZ to discuss the proposed new and increased water and wastewater rates and fees. A Public Hearing on the matter is scheduled for May 28, 2024, at the regularly scheduled 3 pm City Council meeting located in the City Council Chambers at Prescott City Hall. The earliest the City Council can take formal action on adopting any new and increased water and wastewater rates and fees will be immediately after the May 28, 2024 Public Hearing.

The increased Water and Wastewater Rates will become effective at the earliest thirty (30) days after the adoption of the increases by the Prescott City Council.

The final written report and data for which the City Council will rely upon in determining whether to add and/or increase existing water and wastewater rates, rate components, fees, and/or service charges is posted on the City’s webpage at https://prescott-az.gov/utility-billing/current-rate-study/.

  1. Last night I paid $11.32 for a three piece Kentucky Fried Chicken dinner; no drink. I mention this because a lack of management by federal administrations and a political federal reserve board have created high inflation. that directly raises prices and is a very cruel tax; particularly on the low income sector.
The costs of labor affects every aspect of our economy including the delivery and waste water treatment. Additionally. scarce water resources must be considered to assure greater conservation. If housing growth is controlled -limited then higher costs to protect out future is warranted.

  2. Seriously , we are already getting hit with higher taxes and higher prices at the federal state levels and now that more people are moving to the tri city area you want people to pay higher taxes and fees for water, here’s a suggestion stop building all these new houses, have lived here for 52 years.Put a stop to all the building!!

I agree with you completely Linda. The City of Prescott has become money hungry and are putting its residents last on the list. There is too much building going on all throughout Prescott. The City makes so much money on the impact fees and we are left with no water. When is someone in this what use to be small quiet friendly town going to finally stand up and put a stop to this. To many people, way to many cars for our streets, to much building, stop it City of Prescott!
