The Prescott Badgers improved to (5-2) on the young season as RJ Parra tossed a two hit complete game shutout for a 2-0 win over the Saguaro Sabercats.
The game was scoreless till the bottom on the sixth when Gracie Periera connected on a pitch for an infield single that scored RJ Parra from third for the first run of the game. Earlier, Parra had singled, stole second and went to third on a ground out to second. Kennedy Carr reached first beating out a slow roller to second with Pereira going to third. Cameron Scrivener came up and delivered with her second hit, scoring Periera, for an RBI and a two run lead.
Up to that point, the only other scoring threat was after Pereira hit a ball to the right center field fence for a two out triple in the bottom of the fourth and an earlier double by Scrivener.
The Sabercats came up in the top of the seventh and had the first two batters reach base, but Parra struck out the final batter to end the game.

Parra, who was nearly perfect, gave up just two hits and had 17 strikeouts said this about the close contest. “It was a little stressful today. I have some good defense around me, and thankful we got the runs when we did.”
Gracie Pereira had the RBI single and a triple, said about knocking in the winning run, “I was really hoping to make contact with RJ at third. I was able to do that and we got that first run. I like playing in these types of close games. It makes the game more exciting.”
Coach Randall Bryan was happy to get the win. “We are making a practice of playing these low score tight ball games. RJ did an outstanding job today and we were able to get her the runs she needed for us to get the win. Both RJ and Gracie are doing a great job this season pitching for us. We also played a clean game in the field which I am proud of. Now we just need to get our bats going.”
Saguaro falls to (1-3). The Badgers will host Deer Valley on Monday at 4pm.
