Prescott Valley Town Council on Thursday heard an update on proposed traffic changes to Robert Road.
Robert Road between State Route 69 and Tranquil Blvd. has been selected as a location for multimodal improvements. Construction, set to begin in Spring 2024, will take the roadway to a three-way configuration with two through lanes and a center, two-way left turn lane. The Town will resurface and restripe the roadway and add outside bike lanes. The project will enhance safety on the road, making it easier for homeowners and business users to turn.
This project is also intended to direct traffic to Glassford Hill Road, alleviating traffic on Robert except for those who live there or visit businesses in the area. A high visibility crosswalk with flashing beacons is planned at Robert and Nace, the entrance to Mountain Valley Park.
Once the reconfiguration of the roadway is complete, the Town will continue to analyze opportunities to enhance safety.

Robert Rd is a busy rd that through the years has been ruined by traffic. So, now the plan is to run everyone down the neighborhood streets to Glassford and ruin them? How does that make sense,
Nothing that they have been doing makes sense. The Mayor is running a muck spending OUR money like there’s no tomorrow. The plans of what they’ve been doing to the roads hasn’t made sense from the get go. View Point is worse now than before. They should’ve made it 4 lanes instead of doing what they did. It’s time to change all of them out with new people. Maybe they would not have their heads in their dark hole and actually do things better for this town instead of they want to do for it.
That proposal is the dumbest thing I have seen in a very long time.
Before they change the current flow of traffic to less lanes they need to be able to manage the flow of traffic effectively elsewhere. The town is growing at a rapid rate, so we need alternate routes or more lanes before they start eliminating lanes. If they get the traffic flow handled then by all means make these changes.
Dumbest idea ever. Who thought of this brilliant idea. Mayer needs to go bye bye with all his little cronnies. So now you have a person going 20 miles per hr on Robert and can’t pass.. Yep the side Streets are going to be pretty busy.
How about adding a 3rd lane on 69 from the entrance into town, down to Glassford Hill? There is SO MUCH WASTED SPACE between 69 and the frontage roads.. why? If I can’t get a grocery store down by Quailwood, then accommodate for the MESS of traffic going in to town.
typical fed government restrictions to limit traffic thru an area. Next time somebody is driving 25 thru that area you just back up traffic and make it worst! Many people don’t know how to use the left turn center lane! Bad idea – Just more of the “GREEN NEW SCAM”!
In keeping with the thoughts brought up from previous comments, it is the BEST INTEREST of the community to INCREASE VIABLE TRAFFIC ROADWAYS and NOT MINIMIZE EXISTING ROADWAYS. Its called LOGICAL SOLUTIONS. Granted, there might be some who would like to reduce the flow for their particular area, and yet, there is the need for greater flow throughout other areas. There is the need of making good with other roadways previously devised and some are going to have to deal with that expansion of existing roadways, and the Sunset project is one such enterprise. To the mayor and council of our fair town; PLEASE FOLLOW THROUGH WITH YOUR PLANS AND AVOID THESE PITFALLS. Thank you
we need more open lanes for thru traffic not less. any moron knows that. we do not need more bike lanes. people work and need smmothly and swiftly. this idea is not a solution and it’s not logic. it is assinine and creates problemd
