At a Special Board Meeting on Monday November 27, 2023, the Chino Valley Unified School District Governing Board made the decision to concentrate internally in its search for a new superintendent.
According to CVUSD Board President Cyndi Thomas, concentrating on an internal candidate will help maintain continuity among staff and students, as well as ensuring candidates understand the needs of both the district and the community.
“I’m very excited for the opportunity being presented to our staff,” said Thomas. “We have very knowledgeable and qualified individuals currently in leadership roles at the district office and on each campus. They know the values that the school district holds dear and will be able to continue to focus on the students, administrators, and staff without missing a beat.”
The opening was the result of current superintendent John Scholl announcing recently that he will retire at the end of this school year.
According to the CVUSD Human Resources Department, requirements for the position include five years of successful teaching experience, three years administrative experience, a master’s degree from an accredited college or university in educational administration, instructional technology, or a closely related field, and 60 graduate semester hours from an accredited college or university. Candidates must also have or be able to obtain a valid Arizona Superintendent Certificate.
The application process will open on November 30, 2023, with a deadline of 5:00 pm December 7, 2023, for candidates to submit a letter of interest.
