The Verde Valley Republicans will host Congressman Eli Crane at their regular monthly meeting this Saturday, Veterans Day, November 11th. The meeting is held at the VFW Post 7400, 705 E Aspen Street, in Cottonwood, at 2:30pm. Also speaking is LD1 Republican State Senate Candidate Steve Zipperman. The event is free and open to the public.
Congressman Crane is a former Navy Seal and small businessman who was first elected in 2022 to the newly redrawn CD2 congressional seat formally held by Democrat Tom O’Halleran. CD2 now includes all of Yavapai County. In the first year of his two year term, Cong. Crane has aligned himself with the Freedom Caucus and distinguished himself as a staunch conservative. His talk this Saturday will include an update on his experience as a freshman congressman, and the status of key legislation of interest to CD2 voters.
Saturday’s appearance in Cottonwood will be his first visit to the Verde Valley Republican Club since he took office. Cong. Crane was one of several “maverick” congressmen who helped initiate the removal of former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy in favor of more conservative leadership. He has protested the failure of the Republican majority in the House of Representatives to take a more aggressive stance on the federal budget and demanded more restraint on federal spending. He has also spoken out against open ended support for the war in Ukraine. More recently, he has denounced the Hamas led attack on Israel, and supported Israel’s request for military assistance.
Prescott resident Steve Zipperman is making his second bid for a seat in the State Senate, after a narrow loss to Sen. Ken Bennett in 2022. Mr. Zipperman is an attorney by profession, and owned a real estate brokerage before relocating to the Prescott area several years ago. Both Cong. Crane and Mr. Zipperman are supporters of former President Donald Trump and are America First candidates.
The Verde Valley Republican Club meets monthly on the second Saturday of the month at the VFW in Cottonwood. Both Cong Crane and Mr. Zipperman are candidates in the 2024 election.
