Searching for some summer fun? The Prescott Public Library and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s STEM Outreach are partnering to provide two unique STEM opportunities. So channel your inner scientist and bring the little ones for some hands-on fun! Demonstrations are open to all; take-home STEM kits are designed for kids in grades K-2 (while supplies last).
“This is a great way for families to engage in STEM activities together and learn how scientists are using these tools to make exciting new observations,” said Tabitha King, STEM Outreach Manager for Embry-Riddle. “Then, take a kit home and see what you can discover!”
For Prescott Public Library, the chance to team up with Embry-Riddle’s STEM Outreach and provide STEM learning opportunities over the summer is exciting. “We are thrilled to partner up again! The STEM take-home kits were a huge hit with families in the past and there’s already quite a bit of buzz about these interactive programs. They’re a wonderful complement to our summer lineup and tie in perfectly with this summer’s theme—“All Together Now,” said Amy Schwall, Youth Librarian.

Thursday, June 22 from 2-3 pm. – Telescopes & the Sun
Learn about the special tools that scientists use to carefully and safely observe the “star” of our solar system. . . the Sun! Take home a STEM kit with supplies and instructions to make your very own telescope that actually works! (Prescott Public Library Lawn)
Thursday, July 27 from 2-3 pm. Static Electricity
Experiment with static electricity and find out why space scientists need to detect it. Take home a STEM kit with supplies and instructions to build your own working electroscope—an instrument used to detect an electrical charge. (Prescott Public Library Founders Suite)
