A pressurizing start by the Prescott Badgers, set the tone early as the home team put up a 50-point first half on their way to an 80-33 thrashing of the Mohave Thunderbirds. The Badgers big win was not a surprise, as they had already knocked off the Thunderbirds in Bullhead City by 28 earlier this season.

Jake Hilton and Uriah Tenette sparked the big first quarter lead, with Hilton scoring 10, and Tenette seven of the 25 points, to lead by 16 after one quarter. Another quarter of pressure by Prescott, along with dunks by Hilton and Tenette, led to another 25 points, and a 50-16 lead at halftime.
The second half gave a lot of minutes to the bench, and Ben Dutson was able to take advantage of the extra playing time. “It’s great when everybody gets some playing time, and helps us in becoming a better team”, said the senior Dutson, who had eight points and five rebounds. “I was able to get some shots and happy to contribute. You always have to be involved in the game, even on the bench, and you have to be ready to play when coach calls on you.”

Once again Prescott was able to boost the lead, up 66-25 heading to the final quarter. A running clock made the fourth quarter a quick one, as the Badgers added their 14th victory to their season. Every Prescott player was able to put points on the board, which makes it special in its own way. Badger Coach Travis Stedman said, “I was glad to see everyone get it the scoring column tonight. Happy to get some extra time for the bench, and rest for our starters with a couple of big games coming up next week.”

The Badgers (6-1) in the GCR and (14-2) overall, will visit Coconino in Flagstaff, on Tuesday at 7 pm, before returning home to face region leader Bradshaw Mountain on Thursday.
