The second time around was easier for the Prescott Badgers as they blew out the Lions of Mountain Ridge 68-34, to advance to the championship game of the Judy Dixon Tournament hosted by Greenway High School in Phoenix.
Prescott Coach Travis Stedman said, “We played a lot more seasoned in this game, as opposed to our first meeting. The first time we played them, it was their fifth game and out first. We are playing well right now and tonight should be a very good game with Dysart.”
The Badgers got busy quickly establishing the tempo. and taking an 11 point lead as Prescott sank four long range jumpers, two by Uriah Tenette, and one each by Zane Gaul, and Cooper Magnette. Another dominating quarter boosted the lead to 38-18 at the half.
The third quarter was much of the same as Tenette closed out his night, finishing with 21 points. The bench got some good minutes, led by Ben Dutson who scored six. The Badger lead of 56-28 led to a running clock, which quickly ended the game, and another good night for Prescott. Zane Gaul had another big night, scoring 17, with nine rebounds and three blocked shots, he continues to be a dominating force inside.
The Badgers improve to (7-1) and will face Dysart in the tournament championship game tonight at 6 pm. The Demons (8-5) beat Westview 71-63 to advance. Scores of other games were not made available by the tournament host.
