Photo: 1 Uriah Tenette continues to rise above the competition, averaging 28 points a game this season
The Prescott Badgers got the bad taste from the loss to Deer Valley out of their mouths quickly as they hit the road and took it out on the Tempe Buffaloes 83-56.
Uriah Tenette scored a game high 27, and Jake Hilton had his best game of the season thus far with 22, in the blowout victory. Prescott jumped on top in the first quarter, as Tenette and Hilton set the tone for the game offensively. Rome Bassett and Andrew Lyon also added a pair of baskets on the board, building an 11 lead after the first eight minutes. The lead grew to 42-27 at the half, as big man Zane Gaul got into the scoring column with three buckets.
The Badgers continued to outscore the Buffaloes, adding another nine points to the lead, as it grew to 66-42 after three quarters. Seems the officials got a little whistle happy in the fourth quarter, as they called a lot of fouls in the final quarter resulting in 17 Tempe free throw attempts. The Buffaloes managed to only make six, while Tenette knocked down the only two for the Badgers. Despite the huge disparity, Prescott won by 27. Tempe falls to (4-7).
Besides another big scoring night, Tenette had a field day picking pockets of the Buffaloes, resulting in 12 steals, plus pulling down 8 rebounds, and dishing out 6 assists. Rome Bassett contributed with 11 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, plus 3 steals. Zane Gaul knocked down 8 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Jake Hilton also had 3 steals with big offensive performance.
The Badgers (4-1) will get a little break before hitting the hardwood again at the Judy Dixon Tournament, hosted by Greenway High School on December 26th through December 29. Prescott will return home on January 5, 2023, when they host Coconino at 7pm.
