On Saturday, November 5, the Prescott Farmers Market (PFM) will invite customers to celebrate its 9th winter market season. The winter market will take place in the same location as the summer market at Dignity Health-YRMC (900 Iron Springs Road, at the corner of Iron Springs and Miller Valley Roads) with the winter hours of 9:30 am to 1 pm and will continue weekly as weather permits through March 2023. The market will be closed on November 26 and December 24.
“I spend every Saturday morning shopping at Prescott Farmers Market for anything and everything I may be able to use in the kitchen at BiGA. It’s been so much fun over the years getting to really know all the wonderful people in our community who work so hard for the produce we get to enjoy. My family loves to support other families who do what they love. Prescott Farmers Market is such a beautiful space for us all to enjoy!” said John Panza, chef and owner of BiGA.

Prescott Farmers Market was recently voted the #1 Farmers Market in Arizona, where more than 30 vendors are expected to regularly attend the market this winter season. Customers can find a variety of agricultural goods: fresh vegetables, mushrooms, nuts, dates, dried flowers, lavender, bread, eggs, grass-fed beef and poultry. Local farmers grow a variety of cold-hardy vegetables including leeks, beets, radishes, carrots, salad mix, parsnips, sunflower sprouts, spinach and kale. PFM is a producer-only farmers market, meaning every item sold is either grown or produced by the seller here in Arizona; the majority of goods come from within a 30-mile radius of Prescott. In the instance of processed foods and crafts, vendors must use a percentage of AZ-grown ingredients in every product.
PFM on Saturday is a great place for brunch or lunch with a wide variety of ready-to-eat foods like tamales, tacos, shawarma, samosas, bagels and many baked goods, as well as coffee, kombucha and aguas frescas. Visit our event calendar for a list of scheduled vendors for any market day and special market events.

Be on the lookout for special programs in action at the market:
-
Local carrots and homemade rolls are available for free for the kiddos through the Carrots for Kids program, made possible by NFM Lending – The Riggs Team.
-
The Feed Your Neighbors tent is where dedicated volunteers box up fresh, local produce purchased from our farmers using donations and distribute it to those in need.
-
Customers can bring their kitchen food scraps to the purple compost tent, where volunteers answer questions about the Prescott Community Compost Program, a PFM collaboration with the City of Prescott. Acceptable scraps include fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, non-greasy food scraps and egg shells; meat, dairy or oil are not accepted. Bagged leaves and leaves ONLY are also accepted at the compost booth (please no pet/yard waste, sticks, rocks or pine needles). For a complete list, visit https://prescottfarmersmarket.

In September, PFM began piloting reusable plates at select vendors as part of our effort toward a sustainable market. If you plan to eat at the market, use the plate and return it to the Sustainability Booth to be washed. Learn more about our zero waste initiative here: https://prescottfarmersmarket.
Customers can swipe their SNAP/EBT, debit or credit cards to receive tokens at the information booth. The Double Up Food Bucks Arizona program allows customers to double their SNAP benefits at the market. All vendors accept cash. PFM is a pet-free event; ADA service animals specifically trained to aid a person with a disability are always welcome.
As a vital part of the economy, the mission of Prescott Farmers Market is to support and expand local agriculture, cultivate a healthy community and increase access to affordable local food. PFM is a nonprofit organization and a Qualifying Charitable Tax Credit Organization with the State of Arizona.
