The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office is offering further details on the fatal shooting in Rimrock last Saturday evening (10/8) that left two men dead and one in custody on murder charges.
Eyewitnesses reported that after an altercation at a party attended by the three men, Rafael Zapata of Camp Verde was attempting to leave with his companions. Partygoers surrounded Zapata’s car and knocked out one of the windows. Zapata then produced a gun and fired into the crowd striking Efrain Ruiz-Arreola of Rimrock and killing him.
At some point after Ruiz-Arreola was shot, Edgar Arreola, also of Rimrock produced his own weapon and fired into the car striking Zapata multiple times. After initially firing into the car, and after Zapata was clearly incapacitated and no longer an imminent threat, Edgar Arreola circled the car to the other side and fired again at Zapata.
Zapata and Ruiz-Arreola both succumbed to their injuries and Edgar Arreola was taken into custody on First Degree Murder charges.
YCSO criminal detectives are continuing the investigation into the details of the shootings and will provide further information as becomes available.

It would seem this is how family feuds are settled whether in Rimrock or Harlin, Kentucky. You kill my brother; I kill you. It’s still murder but does the state need to spend millions to find out how it started and went down that night in Rimrock?
