Creation Science in Prescott This Sunday: The Recovery of Mount Saint Helens

The  Yavapai  Chapter of the Arizona Origin Science Association (ASOZA)  has announced a special program featuring Frank Sherwin,  a Research Associate and Senior Lecturer for the Institute for Creation Research,  as the guest speaker at their upcoming meeting this Sunday,  July 18, 2021.  Mr. Sherwin is a professionally trained scientist with a B.S degree in Biology, and an M.S. degree in Zoology.  His talk will focus on the remarkable recovery of the fauna and flora of Mount Saint Helens,  after the massive volcanic eruption of 1980,  one of the most dramatic eruptions in the geologic history of North America.

After the eruption of Mount Saint Helens,  the Blast Area looked  like a lunar landscape. Many in the scientific community predicted that it would take many decades for the animals and plants to repopulate the blast zone.  Surprisingly, this has not been the case.  The four decades since the eruption have been a remarkable period of recovery and repopulation of the area.  The parallels with Biblical stories of rapid recovery from natural disasters,  particularly the aftermath of the Noahic Flood 4500 years ago, are clear and scientifically sound.

For those who are new to Creation Science or just curious to learn what it’s all about, this event is an excellent opportunity to hear about the science underlying creationism. Although a science based critique of the theory of evolution is well known among professionally trained scientists, the lay public is often surprised to learn that many of the fundamental assumptions of evolutionary theory are disputed by respected figures in the scientific community.

Contrary of secularists who argue that creation science is anti-science and a form of anti-intellectualism,  those holding creationist views include many credentialed scientists, often holding advanced degrees from accredited universities. They accept the modern principles of science.  However, in doing so,  they bring the rigor and intellectual honesty of the scientific method to bear on the assumptions of evolutionary theory.  Dr. David Berlinski (Yale),  Dr. David Gelertner (Harvard)  and Dr. Stephen Miller (PHD Cambridge) are some of the top names associated with the scientific critique of evolution.  The literature exposing the fallacies and improbabilities of evolutionary theory is extensive and growing.

This Sunday’s meeting of the local chapter of the Arizona Origins Science Association is free and open to the public.  The meeting is scheduled between 4:30-5:45 pm,  at the Liberty Baptist Church,  3100 N. Williamson Valley,  Prescott, Arizona 86305.

All are welcome.   Additional information about creation science and the programs sponsored by AZOSA can be found at their website .
