Winter Storm Alert for February 21-25, 2023 for Prescott – City of Prescott

A rather strong winter storm is forecast to begin impacting the area as early as late Tuesday night and will potentially continue through Saturday night. At this time there is some uncertainty as to total snow accumulations, although confidence is growing that at least 4 inches should expected. However there is a high degree of confidence that wind gusts as high as 50 MPH will accompany this storm system both Wednesday and Thursday.

The National Weather Service is warning of white-out and blizzard type conditions and “Difficult to almost impossible driving conditions” for the Wednesday through Friday forecast period.

As always we ask that you not travel unless it is absolutely necessary, and if you must, please use the utmost caution.

Please be prepared for this storm:
• Stock up with at least a 3 day supply of food and water
• Be sure to have any and all critical medications on hand to last a full week
• Postpone any appointments
• Keep your electronic devices fully charged
• Be sure to have an alternate heat source available in case of a prolonged power outage.
**This storm system has the potential to be much stronger, last longer, and bring much more snow accumulations than last week’s storm.**

While temperatures, at this point are not forecast to dip as low as last week, low temperatures will likely be in the mid to upper 20’s. This will result in snow packed and icy roadways during the storm, and for a time after the storm has passed.
