Best Features of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer

This is a new area for Jeep, which is exhuming a storied model known more for utility and rough-and-tumble than refined, high-class motoring. Yet, the latter is what you have in the company’s 2022 Grand Wagoneer, and it’s bound to shake up the luxe SUV segment. Here’s a look at the best features of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer.

How Much?

With a base price of $88,995, you’ll have to dig deep to claim one of these, although you will get what you paid for. Series I is followed by, yes, Series II, which comes in at $95,995. The Obsidian trim level will set you back $100,995, while the Series III starts at $105,995. Finally, the Series III Premium, the granddaddy of them all, will cost you $109,985.

What About the Powertrain?

Yeah, the vehicle’s upscale, but don’t let the niceties fool you. This beast – which is what it is – has a big, honking 471-horsepower 6.4-liter V8 and standard four-wheel drive. And if you had to, you could tow nearly 10,000 pounds.

And Performance?

While the platform of the Jeep Grand Wagoneerhails from the Ram 1500 pickup, the automaker offers an indie rear suspension instead of the truck’s solid rear axle, making for a more even ride and superior handling.

There is a myriad of four-wheel drive systems in the offing, plus an adaptive air suspension that gives you up to 3.6 inches of extra clearance – added to the regular 10 inches — should you venture off road. You can also use the system to, should you need it, drop the ride a half-inch. Need to ford a stream? You’ve got two whole feet of capability to work with.

What About the Interior?

It’s truly something, what Jeep is doing: offering big families a chance to experience the Jeep way of living, and in an elegant milieu, to boot. Sure, Jeep had the Commander, but that ride never caught on. Plus, that SUV couldn’t touch this one, in terms of creature comforts or anything else, to be frank.

The Grand Wagoneer – the chichi relative of the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer, which is also new –offers as standard second-row captain’s chairs, although you can get a bench seat if you want more passenger room. Amenities abound, including a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and real-wood accents. There are also “Easter eggs,” a nod to the original Grand Wagoneer, plus a throw-back two-spoke steering wheel. On the lip of the dash is the inscription “EST. 1963,” the year the Grand Wagoneer was born.

If you get this ride, you’d better be ready for bespoke ambient interior lighting, camera-based rearview mirror, head-up display, and a rear-seat monitoring hookup.

Cargo-wise, you get 27 cubic feet behind the third row. If you fold those seats down, the space size increases to 71 cubic feet.

And Infotainment?

That’s all there, too. This is a superior, screen-laden infotainment system. In the center is a 12-inch touchscreen that is perched atop a 10.3-inch touchscreen that handles heating and cooling. If you opt for the Series II trim, your front-seat mate will have access to an additional 10.3-inch touchscreen.

Standard features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, USB ports throughout, and Wi-Fi hotspot. For second-row folk, there’s a 10.3-inch touchscreen. If you go for the rear-seat entertainment system, you’ll get two 10.-1-inch touch screens.

What About Sound Systems?

The sweet McIntosh sounds system comes standard. If you choose Series II or better, you get the more formidable 1,375 setup with 23 speakers.

Luxury motoring combined with Jeep’s vaunted brashness. That’s something, eh? Now that you know the best features of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer, you can outfit your ride how you like. There are no losers.
