“The execution of laws is more important than the making of them.” – Thomas Jefferson
If an employee is paid a wage, but does none or little of the work his job requires, he is not much more than a thief. That employee is essentially committing a fraud. It may not be an arrestable offense, but it is certainly immoral. Any employer would fire such a scofflaw. Every job, career, or endeavor has responsibilities that are required to accomplish its mission. These are obligations, and if they are not met, the job, the work, or the progress of the organization will not occur or will be greatly restricted.
In government, the different branches of our Constitutional Republic have their own, distinct responsibilities. This is true at all levels of government: federal, state, and local. The legislative branch has the duty to research and create laws. The judicial branch is required to interpret laws and see that justice is dispensed in an equitable manner. The executive branch is responsible with enforcing the laws that have been enacted and placed into law. While there are overlaps between these branches, the separations are in place to make sure that there are “checks and balances” so that one branch doesn’t become too powerful and/or diminish the power of the other branches.
There are many statutes on the books, at all levels of government, that have not been enforced for years because they have become antiquated or forgotten in the years since they were a germane issue in society. It would be appropriate for governments to eliminate these now useless laws from the books.
The President, governors, mayors, and sheriffs have a responsibility to enforce laws that are on the books and are relevant to today’s population. Not to enforce such laws is a major neglect of their duty. This became a major issue during the Biden administration. Biden and his Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, refused to enforce immigration laws that had been enacted by Congress and signed into law by the President. A President, and those in his administration, cannot choose which laws to enforce and which to ignore. If the President fails to enforce enacted laws, it is a violation of of his oath of office, “to faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States”.
As a result of just this one failure to apply immigration laws, the Biden administration allowed millions of unvetted, unvaccinated, illegal, destitute, and many criminal aliens into the United States. These statutes were enacted by Representatives and Senators and signed into law by a President, all of whom were elected by the people. When a President decides that he is not going to enforce such duly produced laws, he is usurping the power the Constitution gives to the Legislative branch. He is also negating the right of the people to vote for legislative representatives that will enact laws they favor.
The results have been disastrous. They have resulted in the deaths of thousands of Americans. Our countrymen have been murdered by illegal alien criminals. They have been killed in vehicle accidents by drunken or illiterate illegal aliens. The cold, hard fact is that most, if not all of these deceased Americans, would still be alive if the Biden administration had enforced immigration laws
