The Prescott Badgers had won 11 straight Grand Canyon Region games in their first two years of existence, but the Mingus Marauders ended that streak with a 19-7 setback on a cloudy evening in Cottonwood.

It was also the first time the Marauders have ever scored against the Badgers, who had beaten Mingus 24-0 and 19-0, both in Prescott, but the Marauders turned the tide on their home turf.

Mingus took an early lead on a safety as the Badgers were backed up on their opening possession. Prescott got the ball right back when Halle Terelak-Foster picked off a Marauders pass, setting the Badgers up for what would be their only score of the night.

Prescott went ahead 7-2 when quarterback Rylee Hart found Halle Terelak-Foster on a short 3 yard pass play. Brinkley Larson added the extra point.

After that it was all Mingus as the Marauders regained the lead with a time consuming drive in the final minutes of the second quarter when Kambra Hahn ran the ball in from 19 yards out. The Badgers were unable to sustain a drive and the teams headed to halftime with Mingus on top 9-7.

In the third quarter it was Hahn again, this time on a 8 yard run to boost the Mingus lead to 16-7. The final nail in the coffin came in the final minutes when Marauders kicker Karstyn Richardson kicked a 25 yard field goal to close out the Marauders first win in program history over the Badgers.

The loss drops Prescott to (3-2) on the season and (0-1) in Grand Canyon Region play. Mingus improves to (4-1) and (1-1). Next up for the Badgers is a non-region road contest at Dysart on Monday. Mingus will be back at it today down in the valley at Peoria. Start times are 6pm.
