Multi-Vehicle Accident at Prescott Lakes Parkway and State Route 89 – Prescott Police Department

On September 27, 2026, at about 5:08 p.m. the Prescott Police Department responded to a multi‑vehicle collision on Prescott Lakes Parkway and the intersection of State Route 89.

A Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by 34-year-old female Scottsdale resident, Jonna Francis, was observed driving erratically northbound on Prescott Lakes Parkway.  The vehicle entered the roundabout at Prescott Lakes Parkway and Bunker Place and hit a curb causing damage to the vehicle. The vehicle continued northbound and eventually crossed left of center, traveling across State Route 89 and into the southbound lanes of Prescott Lakes Parkway at a high rate of speed.

Four vehicles were stopped at the traffic signal in the southbound lanes of Prescott Lakes Parkway. The Hyundai struck another vehicle head‑on, pushing it backward into a third vehicle. The impact forced the Hyundai left, where it collided with a fourth vehicle. This vehicle was then pushed backward and spun, contacting a fifth vehicle.

Following the collisions, the Hyundai became fully engulfed in flames. The driver escaped the vehicle, and Prescott Fire Department personnel quickly extinguished the fire before it spread.

Francis was transported to the Yavapai Regional Medical Center, West Campus.  She was later transported to a Phoenix‑area hospital for further treatment.

Of the other four vehicles involved there were a total of 6 occupants.  Two additional occupants from the other vehicles were transported to the Yavapai Regional Medical Center, West Campus for evaluation and were released a short time later.

The Prescott Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit responded to the scene to conduct the investigation.

The roadway was closed in all directions from approximately 5:15 p.m. until 11:22 p.m. while officers investigated the scene and removed vehicles.

Impairment is believed to be a factor in the accident. Charges are being submitted pending blood results.
