City of Prescott to Host Public Meeting on Willow Lake Management Plan

The City of Prescott, in partnership with Southwest Decision Resources and community and stakeholder groups, will host a public meeting on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, to provide information and gather community input for the development of a Willow Lake Management Plan.

The public meeting will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Phippen Museum, located at 4701 Highway 89 in Prescott. Community members are welcome to attend at any time during the meeting.

Prior to the public meeting, a guided walk will be held from 3 to 3:45 p.m., beginning at the Jan Alfano Trail entrance at 1900 Willow Lake Road. Local naturalist Walt Anderson and butterfly enthusiast Becky Hardy will lead a guided tour of the south side of the Willow Lake property.

Adults and children are welcome to participate in the guided walk. City staff will be available during the public meeting to answer questions and provide information about strategies being considered to address water quality and quantity, vegetation and habitat, recreation, and public outreach and education at Willow Lake.

The City of Prescott is developing a Willow Lake Management Plan to address the unique needs of the reservoir and surrounding open space. The current management plan, adopted in 1998, is a joint plan for Watson Lake and Willow Lake. The City is developing a separate plan for Willow Lake because the two reservoirs have different management needs.

The Public Works Department encourages community members to attend the meeting, learn more about the planning process, and provide feedback on the development of the Willow Lake Management Plan.
