Catholic Charities North Star Youth Partnership Girls & Sports Day Returns to Prescott YMCA: Registration Now Open

North Star Youth Partnership, a program of Catholic Charities Community Services of Arizona, in collaboration with the James Family Prescott YMCA is hosting the 24th annual Girls & Sports Day. Taking place on Saturday, September 19 from noon to 6:30 p.m., the popular, summertime event encourages comradery and empowers girls to make positive choices and live healthier lives.

Girls ages 7 to 14 are encouraged to register for an uplifting day of athletics, friendship, fun, and food at the Prescott YMCA. Early bird registration is now available for $15. Day of registration will increase to $20. The fee includes coordinated activities, a backpack of goodies, and dinner provided by Panera Bread. New this year, the evening concludes with a dance party. Space is limited, so advanced registration is encouraged.

The day’s athletics are divided into age categories. Ages 7-8 participate in an obstacle course, play soccer and navigate a gymnastics-based ninja zone. Ages 9-10 play volleyball and flag football and dance Zumba. Ages 11-14 learn self-defense, hang from silks, and enjoy cycling.

The event also includes a special guest speaker, Alexes (Lexe) Hudson, a local entrepreneur and performing arts advocate. Hudson owns a dance studio, Lessons by Lexe and Quest Character Parties. She has danced since the age of four and remains actively involved in the arts in the community, serving as a board member for a non-profit theatre company, One Stage Family Theatre.

Registration for Girls & Sports Day must be done in-person at the James Family Prescott YMCA.
