Armed Domestic Incident Results in SWAT Response – Chino Valley Police Department

On Sept. 03, 2026, Chino Valley Police Officers responded to the 600 block of Porcupine Pass regarding a family dispute involving a female suspect who had pointed a firearm at family members.

Upon officers’ arrival, two family members had exited the residence. As officers and deputies directed a third family member to exit the residence, the female suspect appeared in the entryway armed with a pistol. Officers gave repeated commands for her to drop the weapon, which she refused. The suspect pointed the firearm at officers and slammed the door shut.

Officers established a perimeter and attempted to negotiate with the suspect while safely removing the remaining elderly family member from the residence. The suspect continued to refuse commands to surrender.

The YCSO SWAT Team responded to assist. SWAT personnel gained access to the residence and deployed a drone to locate the suspect. After additional attempts to gain her compliance were unsuccessful, less-lethal munitions and a YCSO K-9 were utilized, and the suspect was taken into custody.

The suspect was transported to a Phoenix-area hospital for medical evaluation and treatment, where she remains at this time.

The CVPD would like to thank the YCSO deputies, SWAT personnel, K-9 team, and supporting personnel for their assistance during this critical incident. The cooperation and coordination between our agencies provided specialized resources that assisted in safely resolving a dangerous and rapidly evolving situation.

The investigation remains ongoing.
