Second Season Opens Up In Prescott Valley

After a short summer recess here in Arizona for the World Tournament in Wausau, Wisconsin, horseshoe pitching tournaments resumed this past week with the Ringers Galore Tournament held at American Legion Park in Prescott Valley. 

Trisha Lincoln won Class A in a clean sweep with Robert Chubinsky finishing in second place with a 4-2 record. Cody Williams and Bruce Reid finished tied for third. Reid had to forfeit the first two games due to arriving late.

Trisha after performing less than par at the World Tournament, was able to go (6-0) and having a 70% game was able to take home the Tournament Champion patch for this class. It was a rough day for all since everyone in this class pitched below their entry average.

Class B was the Mike and Mike Show. Mike A. and Mike B. that is with B besting A. Mike Brewer ended up with a (4-1-1) record earning him the Class Champion. He also pitched above his average by 3.83%. Mike Andres had a record of (3-2-1) pitching 2.83% above for second place.  Keith Tucker ended (3-3) to take third.

Brent Larson went (6-0) to take the Class Champion Title, Brent had several games above average, a couple in the 30-37% range and was above his average on the day by 5.50%. Larry Jones continues to climb the ladder by pitching 4.83% above his average. Jones went (4-2) to earn second place with his only losses coming to Larson. Gene Davis and Carl Lincoln finished tied for third place.

In the 40 foot men’s Class, it was a battle between Bryant Smith Jr. and Frank Farley. Smith was able to sweep the four games by pitching 2.63% above his season average.

In regards to the World Tournament held between July 11-26, congratulations to our local players Patti Lopez-Cepero and John Lincoln. Each had an impressive showing representing Arizona very well by finishing third in their respective classes. Patti placed in the Women’s Class H and John in Men’s Class F. 

Next up is a tournament hosted by the Mile Hi Horseshoe Club at Watson Lake on Saturday, August 22 beginning at 8am. The courts are located just inside the park entrance and to the right for anyone who would like to come out to watch and learn about this sport.
