When a Right Becomes a Solemn Duty – Buz Blog

It is a universal truth that rights come with responsibilities. It has become more and more apparent that a great many people on the far left, while exercising their rights, fail to acknowledge the corresponding obligation. The First Amendment right to assemble, has in the text the word “peaceably”, to clarify what type of assemble this right is allowing. The right to free speech has an obligation to speak the truth and to research statements before speaking. The right to a free press has a similar burden to investigate for truth in items, stories and accusations before publishing them. It should be noted that since the very beginning of the implementation of our Constitution, adherence to these responsibilities has been the exception rather than the rule. That is hardly surprising considering the fallibility of human nature.

The Second Amendment right to bear arms has the unwritten demand that firearms be used responsibly, trained in their use and stored safely. Many of the other amendments have responsibilities to go with the rights they infer. Some are obligations to states or officials.

The most important right we have as citizens is the right to vote. Our obligation as voters is to research candidates and issues, prior to casting our votes. There is no stated responsibility to vote in every election or to vote for a candidate in every election or on every issue. But on occasion, the right to vote becomes more than an obligation, responsibility or an easily neglected burden. Sometimes the right to have one’s vote recorded, becomes a duty that must be exercised. The upcoming general election is one of those times.

As we have seen with the primary elections in New York and across the nation, the Democrats are trending to the far left so-called Democratic Socialist/communist candidates. Their platform and stated policies are aimed at circumventing or destroying our Constitution. Should the Democrats gain a majority in the House and/or the Senate, Trump and the Republicans will be emasculated and unable to pass their agenda and needed reforms. The deep state will be quickly reassuming power.

“The squad” members and Bernie Sanders are already in the Congress, and the rest of the Democrats are fearfully caving to their far left leanings. If the Democrats are able to get majorities in the House and the Senate, they will be continuously trying to impeach Trump. As the Democrat Socialists have openly stated, they will try to abolish the Senate and the Electoral College. They will attempt to replace the President and the Supreme Court with an executive and judiciary chosen by and subordinate to Congress.

The so-called moderates in the Democrat party have already stated that when they get a majority in Congress and the Presidency, they will end the filibuster in the Senate, admit Washington DC and Puerto Rico as states and increase the number of justices on the Supreme Court. While the two factions will have to work out compromises, the end result will be the end of our Republic.

While voting in midterm elections has notoriously low turnout, now is not the time to stay at home. Voting in the upcoming general election, this time for patriotic Americans and all Republicans, is not just a right, it is a solemn duty to save our country.
