Yavapai County Lifts Fire Restrictions for Zones 1-5

Following significant monsoon moisture and a reduced risk of wildfire, Yavapai County will lift its county-wide fire ban effective Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. The ban is being lifted for all Yavapai County’s fire zones (1-5), which include the following cities and towns: Prescott, Prescott Valley, Dewey-Humboldt, Mayer, Cordes Junction, Black Canyon City, Congress, North Wickenburg, Peeples Valley, Yarnell, Wilhoit, Cottonwood, Sedona, Camp Verde, and all unincorporated areas.

This decision was made in coordination with our regional partners, including the Prescott National Forest, Coconino National Forest, Tonto National Forest, and the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management (DFFM), who have also lifted fire restrictions. Recent rainfall throughout the county has increased humidity and moisture content in vegetation, leading fire officials to agree that conditions are appropriate to lift the current restrictions.

“This decision reflects the impact of recent weather patterns and the ongoing assessment of fire restrictions across Yavapai County. The lifting of fire restrictions is welcome news for our communities, but it does not signal the end of wildfire season. We encourage everyone to continue practicing fire safety, stay aware of current conditions, and do their part to help prevent human-caused wildfires,” said Ashley Ahlquist, Yavapai County Emergency Manager. “Wildfire remains a year-round concern in Arizona, and we encourage everyone to continue making fire safety a part of every outdoor activity.”
