Two winners took home the top prize at the MI Windows Open Horseshoe Tournament hosted by the Mile Hi Horseshoe Club at the Watson Lake courts in Prescott.
Bruce Reid needed a last game win to tie and then went on to win the playoff game, both against Robert Chubinsky to win the tournament championship.
Reid lost his first game of the day to Cody Williams, who finished third, and faced Chubinsky who was undefeated up to that point going into the final Class A game. Reid narrowly won 20-18 and then had to repeat his performance in order to win it all, which he did. The latter game was a 30-23 win. Williams started off hot with two big wins early lost to Chubinsky then to John Lincoln resulting in his third place finish.

Bryant Smith Jr. made the trip down from Peach Springs worthwhile with a strong showing in Class B to just win over Joe Starika. The tie breaker was over ringer percentage, which Smith Jr. won by 1.75%. In game three they met and the two played a very close game throughout, each leading at some point, but it was Starika that came back with a ringer on his last throw to tie the game at 32. Larry Jones ended in third.
John Kalmes made his debut and won one game but came very close to winning a second, falling to Jones 51-50.
Coming up Saturday, May 9, will be another tournament at Watson Lake. The start time is 9am.
