The Prescott Badgers baseball team is in the midst of a 5 game winning streak that has seen the best of both worlds. When hitting and pitching come together, along with your nine in the field playing solid defense, then you have an unbeatable combination. The Badgers have scored 74 runs in their last 5 games and have given up just 4 runs in those same games. What is equally impressive is the fact that they have committed just two errors in those games. Prescott has improved to (7-3) on the season that includes a pair of Grand Canyon Region wins over Mohave.
Senior southpaw Matt Hepperle has been lights out on the hill, allowing just one hit in 11.2 innings of work. “Hep” has also been a force at the plate, batting .485 with a team leading 16 hits. Will Horn leads the team with 15 RBIs followed by Nick Martin with 10.
Yesterday, Prescott scored 17 runs for the second straight game in a 17-0 win over Ironwood. Nick Martin and Tyler Blanchard each had a pair of hits including a double and each had 2 RBIs. Nine different Badgers had RBIs in the four inning blowout.
Travis Gates and Stelino Gousis combined for a no-hitter. Gates threw 3 innings blanking the Eagles while picking up 4 strikeouts. Stelino Gousis closed out the game also not allowing a hit.
Ironwood dropped to (6-3).
The Badgers have three more games away from Prescott at the Greenway Festival Tournament versus Paradise Valley. Bishop Kelly (Idaho) and Thunderbird, before returning home on Monday to play Agua Fria at 3pm.
