Aztlan Lodge, the original Masonic lodge in Arizona, invites the community to a Masonic Open House Day on Saturday, March 21, 2026. The community is invited to attend this enlightened event held from 10 AM to 3 PM at Aztlan Masonic Lodge, 1028 Willow Creek Rd, Prescott.
Fourteen presidents from George Washington to Gerald Ford have called Masonry home. The roots of Masonry in Arizona date back to 1864, when John Noble Goodwin was appointed by Abraham Lincoln as the first governor of the Arizona Territory. Goodwin presided over the first Masonic meeting in Prescott in 1864. Eleven dedicated Masons from across the territory gathered to establish Aztlan’s first Masonic Lodge. This historic gathering took place at the Governor’s House, which now resides on the grounds of Sharlot Hall Museum in Prescott. Today, Aztlan Lodge continues this proud tradition, welcoming all to explore its rich history and enduring values.
Discover Masonry’s Storied History
Established shortly after that initial congregation, Aztlan Lodge initially called the original temple on Cortez Street home in 1911. Since its inception, the lodge has been an integral part of the Prescott community. A significant moment in its history was the move to its current location on Willow Creek Rd, which has allowed the lodge to expand its impact and continue its mission.
