Badgers Season Comes to an End at Arcadia

Photo: 23 Jack Golleher led the Badgers in scoring averaging 10.5 points per game

The Prescott Badgers fell to the Arcadia Titans for the second time this season with a 83-62 setback ending the season for the Badgers. Arcadia moves on to face ALA-Queen Creek in the quarterfinals. Prescott ends their season at (13-14). It was a better showing by Prescott than the first meeting in December when the Badgers lost to Arcadia at home by 30.

Both teams came out and put points up and when Pedro Jimenez scored the Badgers had a 10-7 lead. After the game was tied at 10, Jack Golleher’s basket gave the Badgers a 12-10 lead, but Arcadia went on a 14-0 run to close the quarter. Points off turnovers killed Prescott who had 11 in first quarter alone, aiding the Titans in building their lead that they would never relinquish.

Trailing 28-12 two minutes into the second quarter, Drew Jolley scored his first basket of the game to end the nearly five minute drought and what ended up an 18-0 run by the Titans. Six different players scored in the second quarter for the Titans led by Mason Kendrick who finished with 21 points in just three quarters. Arcadia led 48-28 at the half.

In the third, Prescott could only make a small dent in the Titans lead, pulling within 17, but that was as it. The Titans led 67-44 after three quarters.

Bobby Molnar, who was a key factor in the Badgers overtime win at Flagstaff with 17 points, hit his only two shots, back to back three pointers to start the fourth quarter, to pull the Badgers within 17 yet again at 67-50. That was as close as Prescott got for the remainder of the game.

Drew Jolley led the Badgers with 16 along with 6 rebounds and senior Jack Golleher ended his Badger years with 10. Every Badger player scored at least one basket, but the turnovers were something that Prescott could not overcome.

The Grand Canyon Region champion Coconino Panthers also lost. The Panthers were upset at home by Dysart 55-51.
