The American Civil War could have been logically predicted by the violence that preceded the military engagement. There were threats, brawls and even the caning/beating of abolishment Senator Charles Sumner from Massachusetts by proslavery Representative Preston Brooks from South Carolina. There were many armed conflicts and killings in “Bleeding Kansas” between the pro and anti slavery forces in Kansas and Missouri. There was the attempted takeover of the federal armory at Harper’s Ferry by antislavery zealot, John Brown.
The comparison to the Antebellum Period to what has occurred in our country in the last five years would suggest that not only is a new civil war possible, it could be close at hand. The Antifa/George Floyd riots resulted in the deaths of twenty-five or more people. In conjunction with the millions of dollars in property damage and theft, with the takeover of parts of the cities Seattle and Portland, it could be reasoned that a civil war has already started.
There has been a major increase in the attacks and ambushes on law enforcement officers. The extremist left’s billionaires have bankrolled “mostly peaceful” protests against the deporting of illegal immigrant criminals and those illegals who are caught in the vicinity of the criminals being arrested. That wouldn’t happen if the Democrats in elected leadership positions in those cities and states would cooperate with ICE and other federal officers. If the mayors and governors in the blue states and cities had local law enforcement hold the arrested illegal alien criminals in custody for the ICE officers, the non-criminal illegal aliens would not be arrested at that time.
Just like the proslavery Southern Democrats prior and during the Civil War, today’s blue state Democrats are nullifying federal law by obstructing and failing to enforce federal immigration laws. These laws were voted on by a majority of Congress and signed into law by the President. The Democrats realize that their immigration policies are so unpopular that they could never be enacted into law today. Therefore, they simply ignore them, obstruct federal enforcement and encourage their brainwashed followers to do the same.
With their rhetoric that compares those they disagree with, to Nazis, fascists, Hitler, tyrants and kings, they are hardly disguising their intent to promote the least stable among them to commit violence against their political foes. It is hardly surprising that many on the far left express a wish to see the obituary of President Trump or express glee at the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Nor is it astonishing that the Democrat candidate for Attorney General in Virginia expressed his desire to kill a political opponent, his wife and kids and a desire to urinate on his grave. What is astounding is that the Democrat Party has not demanded that he quit the campaign.
Since the two assassination attempts on Trump and the cowardly, despicable murder of Charlie Kirk, with the take over by leftist extremists of parts of our cities, with the ignoring and obstructing of dually enacted immigration laws, it seems that the battles and shooting civil war has already started. Once again, the Democrats are the ones escalating it from discussion to violence.
